A webmaster is a specialized, individual who manages one or more websites. The working specification for a webmaster can vary from job to job, but it mainly includes ensuring, level working of the website, web server maintenance, and hardware and software functionality, website designing, adding new feature-applications to the website and also revising, updating the webpage on a regular basis. In order to carry out the operations mentioned above the webmaster has to be an expert in the field of web development, domain registration, data recovery, web transactions, payment processors, internet marketing and security software’s. Majority of the webmasters are usually fervent about HTML, but considering the type of pages being developed these days, languages such as PHP, Java and Oracle are considered to be a must these days. The definition of a webmaster does not only cover having a command on the web development languages or server configuration, there is much more to it than that. To make sure the order fulfillment is carried out successfully though the online transaction is also under the supervision of the webmaster.  In case the payment processor is declining payments or if there is some other issues it is the responsibility of the webmaster to provide an alternate method of payment or provide backup software services to the current payment methods. Another major responsibility of the webmaster is to determine and plan out the user guidelines for the web site, which hardware specifications, screen resolution and connection type is preferable to access the website properly.  The management and instruction of different users for the website also need to be determined by the webmaster, the overall appearance and setting up of website navigation. The listing of the check on the search listing of the website, in case the search rating falls the Webmaster should inform the SEO department and ask them to look into the issue and restore the search listings.

Another major aspect of a Webmasters job description is to deal with the emails that are received through the website email system. Emails from customers regarding product query to products, complaints are all to be handled by the webmaster. There are also emails regarding important web or computer-related questions or queries about the application, features on the website. All in all a Webmaster is responsible for the smooth working of the website to make sure the customers face no issues when accessing the website and making an order.
